Thank you for visiting my classroom blog space!   I am very excited to begin my fourth year teaching Language Arts at Jefferson.  In 2007, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a double major in English and Secondary English Education and a minor in journalism/mass communication.  Since graduating, I have enjoyed being a part of the field of secondary education.  I am passionate about reading and writing and find that the subject of language arts is a completely rewarding and creative outlet!    Currently, I am enrolled in graduate courses at Concordia University obtaining a master's in Educational Technology & 21st Century Learning Skills.

In my past teaching experiences, I have worked with students during extracurricular activities, such as school musical productions, and I have also committed my time after school or during lunch in order to have one-on-one time with students who need extra academic help.  During my past few years at Jefferson, I was fortunate to coach the school's dance team, assist Mrs. Hock with cheerleading, and work along side Mrs. Lenhart and Mrs. Riskus in advising Student Council.  Currently, I co-direct the fall musical and head-coach the varsity cheerleading squad at JJH.

When I am not at school, I often find myself reading in my favorite Ikea chair, playing softball on my all-too-competitive summer league team, taking my two frisky dogs (Wrigley and Ginny) for a walk, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen with close friends and family.  I look forward to working with this year's eighth graders!
